2008 Schedule of Events

Dallas Rowing Club members participate in various events throughout the year. So far in 2008, DRC members have participated in the S.W.E.A.T. held in Dallas and will go to the Heart of Texas held in Austin, March 8-9. Regattas to follow are the Lake Woodlands Championship to be held in The Woodlands and other regional, state and national rowing events (Youth Nationals, Masters Nationals in summer).

Each member is responsible for making his or her own arrangements to attend the events; however, individuals often coordinate attendance to make events more enjoyable. Specific event information, (i.e. TACenters, rules, forms, location, etc.) is typically published to the web. Spectators and participants are both welcomed. Saturdays and Sundays at 8:00 the DRC has structured practices for all rowers who wish to improve their racing skills. The training is intensive and is normally followed by breakfast.

2008 S.W.E.A.T. Regatta

Congrats to all rowers and thanks to all volunteers organizing this great event.

Congratulations to all DRC and Dallas School members who rowed in the Heart of Texas Regatta in Austin on March 10-11. Thanks to Austin Rowing Club for hosting the event.

The 2006 B.L.A.S.T. (Bachman Lake Annual Sprint Trials) Regatta was held Saturday, May 20, 2006 at the Bachman Lake in Dallas.

The 2006 S.W.E.A.T (Southwest Ergometer Amateur Tournament) Regatta was held Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the Episcopal School of Dallas.

The 2005 B.L.A.S.T. (Bachman Lake Annual Sprint Trials) Regatta was held Saturday, June 18, 2005 at the Bachman Lake in Dallas.

The 2005 S.W.E.A.T (Southwest Ergometer Amateur Tournament) Regatta was held Saturday, January 15, 2005 at the Episcopal School of Dallas. Please refer to the information page if you have any question.

Initial plans for a Texas-wide official regatta were shelved in 2004, due to space restrictions imposed by the Dallas Water Department for trailers and boats.

Although DRC did regret the cancellation, and the loss of out-of-town competitors, the rowing club did host a "High School Regatta" for schools operating their rowing program out of the DRC boat house, including ST.Mark’s and Cambridge School of Dallas.

2004 Local Dallas High School Competition

As a result of down-scaling the regatta from "Open" and "Official" to "Fun" and "Local only" the club celebrated the completed facelift of Bachman Lake with a regatta for its members and friends from the Forth Worth RC.

The regatta ran over a 1,000m distance in four lanes in a semi-official manner. Following the Club Competition was a High School regatta for local High Schools.
