Please read before you sign up:

Session will be 1-4pm Saturday and Sunday. Registration deadline is a week before class. Fee is $150 per person per session. You will get a $50 discount on your membership if you decide to join the club. Please sign up for lessons at http://www.regattacentral.com/?tab=ltr or click on one of the links above.

If you have no Swim Certificate by the registration deadline, please bring it to the class. Download and complete the DRC waiver from this website. You can bring it to the class or send it.

Swim Certificate

To prepare for your weekend at Dallas Rowing Club, you must first obtain a YMCA certificate of your ability to swim. We live our sport on the water, and safety is our most important practice. We recommend to get in touch with the Park Cities or Town North YMCA for more information. Usually you have to proof that you can swim 500m and tread water for 5 minutes. We also accept Padi/Lifeguard certificates.

Clothing

Class attire should be tight workout clothing. Rowing is done in bike tights or running shorts. No loose-leg material as it may catch in the slide tracks when rowing. Tank tops or tight T-shirts and short socks (rowing is done in socks, no shoes). Please wear caps or visors along with sunscreen.

Please bring an extra set of clothes and a towel, because one part of the class is a fliptest. Every rower has to show that he/she is able to get back in the boat. We will teach you how and you will feel great!

In case of bad weather

Because rowing is an outside sport and safety is our primary concern, weather is always a factor; therefore, classes may be canceled due to high winds, electical storms, etc. Always show up for your class. Some technical drills can be performed on the rowing machines but don't be surprised if the part of going on the water has to be postponed to a later date.

Where to go from there?

If you enjoyed it, please let your instructor know and sign up for 2, max. 3 beginners sessions over the next one or two weeks (for free). Your instructor will have a list with dates and times. After that you need to decide if you want to become a member. For more information click on the membership link.

And then? You're not alone. We have a small but nice Novice Group who stays in touch via a moderated Google Group. If the weather is good usually someone sends an e-mail around and people meet spontaneously–often once or twice a week.

Directions to the Boathouse

The boathouse is located on the south side of Bachman Lake, on Shorecrest Drive. It is across the street from the Southwest Airlines hanger and adjacent to the Dallas Water Dept. Parking is available behind the boathouse and in the city lot across the street and slightly west of the boathouse. You can find a map under Contacts & Location. Please be prompt!
