No less than 13 boats have qualified for Youth Nationals competition, including 6 grand finalists, earning the DRC Juniors program a place of unique posterity in the 9-state Central Region.
Coach Slim's athletes stand as the defending 2011 Texas State Champions in the Men's Single, Men's Double, Women's Single (2 years consecutive), Women's Double, Women's Quad, and the Women’s Lightweight Double (4 years consecutive). They are the defending 9-state regional champions in the Men's Single, Men's Double, Women's Single, Women's Double (2 years consecutive), and the Women’s Lightweight Double (4 years consecutive).
The juniors have represented the Dallas Rowing Club internationally with one member representing the Swiss Junior National Team, another progressing to the semifinals at the esteemed Henley Royal Regatta in the UK, and recently as the strongest American junior men’s double at Canadian Henley semifinals, placing 11th overall against some 65 international crews. Nationally, the crew has competed at the Head of the Charles in Boston, MA, the highly competitive Club Nationals in Tennessee, and the US Rowing Youth National Championship in Cincinnati, Ohio, taking silver in men's single in 2011, gold in the lightweight girls double in 2007, and silver in the Women's Double in 2006.
Coach Slim’s ultimate goal has been consistently reinforced by a very high percentage of college recruitment and scholarships among graduating seniors, including both men and women.
