Individual entries will be taken at the door on the day of the race, cash only, $10.  Scholastic and collegiate groups having more than 10 entries must pre-register by snail mail (see entry form and instructions) in order to receive a discounted rate of $7 per competitor.  Please arrive at least one hour prior to your scheduled race time to allow for registration, weigh-in (if applicable) and warm-up.  In the event of a scheduling conflict, we will happily allow you to race in another event as ergs are available – no one will be turned away without a race.

Discounted ergs ($775, no shipping, $100 deposit required) may be ordered for purchase prior to the race.  E-mail or call to reserve one.

Schedule:

Ladies first this year, in all events. Warm-up ergs will be available.  Open entries may choose to row with Masters or with Collegiate, but will have to wait until the Collegiate events conclude for awards).

8:30   Masters Events Begin
9:30   Junior Events Begin
11:30   Collegiate Women Begin
1:30   Collegiate Men Begin

All events are 2000 meters.  All times listed are understood to be approximate; your event could start as much as 20 minutes early or an hour late.  In events requiring multiple heats, we will try to group heats from slowest to fastest, in ascending order.  All competitors will pull only once, however, with the fastest heat being, in effect, the final.  The regatta should be over by 3:30
This is a CRASH-B qualifier:  rowers meeting the Concept II time standard for their category will win a free trip to Boston for the CRASH-B’s.  See the Concept II Website for your qualifying time www.concept2.com.

Directions to ESD:

Please read the following carefully:

The S.W.E.A.T. has grown; therefore, our entry procedure has changed slightly this year to make race day simpler for all of us.

Entry Instructions for Scholastic, Collegiate, or Club groups:

There are no group registration forms this year.  An individual entry form must be filled out for every competitor.  The individual entry form is the lifeblood, keystone, and currency of the S.W.E.A.T.   Without this form, you will be invisible to us, and we won’t put you in a heat, record or report your time, or even know you exist.  It is also imperative that each form be filled out legibly – since the form is our only record of who you are, we can’t spell your name (or even pronounce it) if we can’t read it.  So if you see your score listed in “Independent Rowing News” under Krxmun Vershorf, it’s your fault unless that really is your name.  Likewise, you must make sure that your gender, weight class, and category are accurate and legible, for similar reasons.

Coaches should compile all of the individual entry forms and mail them to

Troy Howell – Crew Coach and S.W.E.A.T. Race Director

Postmarked by January 3, in order to qualify for the discounted $7 per athlete entry rate.  Day of race entries will be charged the normal $10 per athlete fee.  Coaches please note that because the S.W.E.A.T. has grown so much over the past three years, we can no longer guarantee that all of your athletes will get to row on the first row of machines with video monitors (I am not happy about that, but we do not have the ability to run more than ten racers at once on video monitors, and no one in his right mind would create a two-day erg race).  Sending entries in advance this year will allow us to do some planning of heats so that we can get as many racers on those machines as we possibly can.  We will make sure that at least half of your athletes get to row on the front row machines; if you do not indicate which half of your athletes you want us to ensure get a front-row race, we will assign seats on the front row to your faster rowers based on the predicted 2k time you list for each of them (or that they list for themselves – you may want to double-check for fibbers and unreasonable optimists).  Second-row racers will be rowing on Model C machines, the front row will be the new Model D’s.

Entry Instructions for Individuals:

Show up at least 45 minutes prior to your scheduled race time, fill out an entry form, pay ten bucks, and row.  If you are not part of a group, please do not pre-register.  We promise that everyone who wants to race will get to race.
